The Story of My Bees
Based on Piti’s play with music “To Bee or Not to Bee”, this 30 minute storytelling event with an actor and a musician uses puppetry, clowning, dance and audience participation to tell Farmer James’ comic, tragic and ultimately hopeful story. Piti created “To Bee” and “The Story of My Bees” to raise awareness about the honeybee’s plight and give children and adults tools for helping pollinators thrive in their communities. Children will receive bee-friendly flower seeds to take home and plant at the end of the show. “The Story of My Bees” is well suited to smaller spaces and outdoor venues. Past presenters include Greenbelt in Essex, MA; Jones Library, Amherst; Tuesday Market, Northampton; Academy of Early Learning, Greenfield; 2nd Congregational Church Bee Fest, Wareham Free Library, Greenfield Farmers Market and Wake up the Earth Festival, Jamaica Plain.
“I just wanted to say thank you again for helping to make yesterday’s event such a success. The work you’re doing is very important and I’m so glad that we crossed paths. Keep up the good work, and let me know if you have other chances for us to collaborate!” – Alice Tonry, AmeriCorps Community Engagement Coordinator, Greenbelt | Essex County’s Land Trust
