PERFORMANCE

Riding the Wave.com

Whether you're looking for entertaining but provocative way to close your retreat or conference or an "out-of-the-box" way to introduce trainings in storytelling or personal presence, this acclaimed one person show takes participants on a financial, romantic and spiritual journey through the depths of the tech boom in the late 90's and out the other side. Riding the Wave.com is entertainment which also provokes real questions about risk-taking, ethics, and investor behavior. Previously performed at Harvard Business School, New York University's Stern School of Business and the New York Fringe Festival. "Mirin... could be the poet laureate of Silicon Valley." What a Way to Make a Living

Barry Oshry's musical comedy about organizational life has proven to be a powerful experience for audiences. Watch some scenes and post-play reactions from our September, 2007 performance at the John Hancock Conference Center in Boston for The Partnership.

TRAINING

What's Your Story?

People in organizations need to be able to tell stories - whether it's about their products or themselves. We tell them all the time with friends: "so I'm waiting for the bus and..." But when it comes time for our two minutes with an important person, we often leave feeling we could have done better. This workshop is valuable for anyone who wants to make a deeper impact when you finally have them listening.

The Organization Workshop

While many things happen in organizations that are hard to explain, our explanations tend to be at the personal level-- "they" are incompetent, unmotivated, unskilled, etc. Since these explanations are personal, so are the solutions: fix, fire, or rotate "them" or restructure who reports to whom in the organization. We also know that these fixes seldom work in the long run. The Organization Workshop allows participants to see that the vast majority of these issues are not personal at all-- they are natural (almost unavoidable) outcomes of the way our systems are structured and the condition in which organizations operate. This allows leaders to see the impact of their actions on the larger organization and to make choices that avoid the worst pitfalls of organizational systems. The Organization Workshop opens a new door towards empowering employees at all levels to partner in organization growth and change. The O.W. was developed by Power and Systems of Boston. Past clients include Microsoft, NASA, Boeing and Fidelity Investments.

The Vision Workshop

Often we are so absorbed in our daily emergencies and tasks, we don't take the time to remember the vision we're working to achieve. Do you have a vision for your organization? For yourself within the organization? Are you making progress toward your goal? Could it be refined or deepened? The Vision Workshop was designed by Jonathan Mirin as an opportunity for small group coaching around real situations being faced on the job. Working in groups of three, participants will have the chance to develop their vision for a specific project. Then they will rehearse the most difficult conversation that needs to take place to realize their goal and practice strategies that have a higher likelihood of success.

The Digital Soap Opera

We will spend a week "hanging out" inside your company, doing diagnostic interviews, and getting a feel for what life is like for employees-- the inner and outer stories. Your existing organizational "scripts" will then be turned into a series of scenes which can be performed live or filmed for distribution via the internet. This is followed by a de-brief process in which the organization can use the scenes as a catalyst for meaningful discussion and change. Contact us to view a sample podcast.
